Defendant Accused of Murdering Boyfriend with SUV

The trial of Karen Read, a woman arrested on suspicion of killing her boyfriend Boston Police Officer John OKeefe by hitting him with her SUV, is underway in Massachusetts. Prosecutors say Karen Read dropped John OKeefe off at a house party hosted by a fellow officer in January 2022 struck him with her SUV.

Read is charged with second-degree murder in the death of John OKeefe her Boston police officer boyfriend who was found dead outside a home in Canton after being struck by a car.

The trial is expected to last several weeks and has already featured testimony from several witnesses including police officers and forensic experts.

Read is being held without bail and has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
